Welcome to QS Southern. We like Microsoft Office here and have all manner of Microsoft Office training courses to offer you in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher and Outlook from Beginners to Advanced. Although not strictly part of the Office Suite we also offer Microsoft Project 2000 and 2003.  If you are currently using Office 2000, Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office 2010 we have courses just for you.  Ideally we run MS Office training courses in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire but enquiries from London and the Home Counties are always invited. Buy MS Office 2007 here!

Whether just one person wants to learn Microsoft Word or a whole department requires Microsoft Excel training you need look no further than QS Southern - We Train Office. One to One training could cost as little as £100 for a half day session (depending on where you are) and you get to decide the course contents. We can even cover more than one Office module - so if you want a bit of Excel and a bit of Word - no problem.

Some of the standard courses are in the process of revision so detailed course contents might not be shown. Please feel free to call or drop us an E Mail if you cannot find the information you are looking for. Additional information is being added all the time. Please come back and visit the site again.

If you have a specific tailored course in mind drop us a line - we can probably accommodate it. It might be pivot tables or lookup tables in Excel, mail merge or styles and templates in Word or queries, forms and reports in Access. Whatever it is we will try our best to come up with just the right course for you.

As well as the standard Intro and Intermediate on-site courses we also offer a series of half day courses at various venues in Bucks and  Oxon  which take the form of  projector based training sessions with an optional CD containing detailed notes and files to allow you to go back over the course in your own time. These Byte Sized Microsoft Office courses are limited to Office 2003 and 2007. Currently we have courses running near High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Oxford and Bicester. More venues will be opening in Berkshire and Hertfordshire. The Berks and Herts Byte Sized courses are scheduled to start during 2011

Byte Sized Courses are just £40.00 per delegate plus £5 for the optional files and notes CD - Great value for a half day course.

In addition QS Southern offers a MS Access consultancy service so if you have your data in Excel and want to migrate it to Access give us a call. We may be able to save you some of the pain and speed the transition process up. Moving from Excel to Access gives you the opportunity to build so much more functionality into your database

Great Gadgets

If you like great gadgets then this is the page for you. Most, but not all, of the products on offer are linked with laptops or phones but we have included several others which are just too useful to leave out. The page includes the Kindle but you can buy it here too if you prefer.

 Our Mission

To make using Microsoft Office both fun and productive.  Have a look at our low cost offer for your initial course on introductory Word or Excel then drop us a line or pick up the phone.

  Who are we?

QS Southern was created in 2002 to provide training and support in all modules of Microsoft Office. The principal trainer, Ian Brearley, has been running training courses the length and breadth of Great Britain since 1992 primarily in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel but all modules of Microsoft Office are covered.

Our philosophy is, and always has been, to offer structured and practical courses to users to enable them to get the most out of their software. We believe that time spent at the computer should be enjoyable as well as productive. Technical jargon is at an absolute minimum on a QS Southern training course.

QS Southern associate trainers adhere to that philosophy and we currently list many Housing Associations, leading charities and commercial companies among our satisfied clients.

If you use MS Office and are in the Home Counties or London we can help. If you are further away from our Oxfordshire base call anyway – we might still be able to help. There may sometimes be a modest travel charge or an overnight charge depending on where the training takes place but such charges are always agreed prior to an order being accepted, and remember that we charge for the course – not per delegate. We consider groups of up to eight quite reasonable for most of our standard on-site courses and that can make us extremely cost effective even if we do have to travel some distance to your offices.

Comparing the cost of training with QS Southern against many of the larger training companies will demonstrate how modest a training budget can be, yet still be wholly effective; then consider the true cost of not training your key staff members. In addition we are not  VAT registered, and if you aren't either then you can make further savings.

Please feel free to call if you require any additional information on the services we are able to offer. If you get the answer phone it will be because we are all out training - but we will get back to you just as soon as we can.

Good Books on MS Office

MS Office 2007

This book got me over the shock of that strange new interface. It explained the ribbon and a whole lot more. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook are all covered including a few useful Office macros. A good all round reference.

MS Office 2003

This is a great book from Que. It covers, in good depth, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access but also goes on to include Outlook and Publisher too. If you are sticking with Office 2003 for the time being then this may well be the only book you need for most Office activities.
